The Problem

UVA's Course Design Institute, an internationally recognized in-person program, helped faculty design learning-focused courses, but it could only reach so many instructors at a time. UVA wanted the same process online.

What We Built

c3Design, an interactive online environment that guides instructors through the iterative process of learning-focused course design, with:

• knowledge checks throughout
• an automated syllabus template that builds the syllabus from the instructor's own work
• an integration map that lines up course goals, assessments and activities
• a syllabus rubric
• a searchable database of syllabi

Results

• 2016 POD Innovation Award from the POD Network, the professional association for teaching and learning centers in higher education.
