Site Speed versus Page Speed
Their Importance and Impact on SEO
What is site speed? Site speed is the measurement of a sample of page views on a website.
What is page speed? Page speed is simply a measurement of how fast the content on a web page loads.
Page speed can be measured in “page load time” which is the time it takes to fully display the content on a specific page or “time to first byte” which is how long it takes for your browser to receive the first byte of information from the web server.
Speed is one of the signals used by Google’s algorithm to rank pages. This has a more pronounced negative impact on larger sites because a slow page speed means that search engines can crawl fewer pages using their allocated crawl budget.
Page speed is also important to user experience. Pages with a longer load time tend to have higher bounce rates and lower average time on page. Slower pages have lower conversions. People have no patience.
