Tutorial – How to Easily Make a Simple but Professional Logo

The most common mistakes made when designing a logo are trying to do too much, sacrificing legibility for no good reason, and weird sizing. Trust me when I tell you that you can’t go wrong with a ‘less is more’ approach to designing your logo. Keep in mind that fonts are created by professionals so it’s fair to say that a text-only logo was professionally designed. So that’s what we’re going to do.

Step 1: Go to Google Drawings

Step 2: Go to ‘File > Page Setup’ and change the Page Setup to Custom, Pixels 300 x 100. (Example)

Step 3: Press the Text Tool and draw a text box the full size of the art board. (Example)

Step 4: Type your company name into the text box.

Step 5: Format by selecting the font you like, resizing to fill the whole width or height, & change the text color to white.

Step 6: Download your file as a PNG by going to ‘File > Download > PNG’

Congratulations. You now have a simple and useful logo. There is another step though. You’ve now got your Retina sized logo but you’ll also need a regular sized logo. So let’s resize it now.
